During Diversity Week 2017 we have celebrated everything that is different about us. This included race, gender, disability, religion, etc. and how we can be inspired by those who have fought against prejudice.
The children have completed work on all aspects of tolerance and respect, including homophobia, in line with our curriculum. The children have also been inspired by a number of visitors. Both Matt Wylie MBE, the local British Paralympian, and Ayaz Bhuta, a team GB wheelchair rugby player who competed at the Rio Paralympics. They both told inspirational stories about their journey to become elite sportsmen and the skills which they needed in order to succeed.
The children really enjoyed both meeting and hearing the stories of these remarkable young men. Matt and Ayaz were able to explain to the children the importance of hard work, dedication, resilience and teamwork in order to achieve. We have all had a great week and are looking forward to outdoor learning week next week.
