In line with their English and Learning Challenge topic of ‘Have you seen the Stone Age Boy?’, Year 3 have travelled back in time to experience life with our prehistoric ancestors.
In the Stone Age food was obtained by hunting and gathering. After a quick game of ‘Hunt the Hyena’ (they eventually managed to find them all), it was off on a big adventure to gather brambles. I understand that the few people who didn’t squish their blackberries beyond all recognition, enjoyed eating the fruits of their labour.
We know a lot about life in the Stone Age from the intricate cave paintings left behind. Year 3 made their own paints using charcoal, chalk and rowan berries mixed with lard (urg – icky!) then created their own masterpieces on the Forest School rocks.
