Reminders

Operation Encompass

As schools prepare to welcome a new cohort of children and their families, it's a great time to share (and remind parents) that you are an Operation Encompass (domestic abuse) and Operation Endeavour (missing) school. As part of the information sharing agreement from Northumbria Police, schools are required to inform parents that you receive critical safeguarding information regarding domestic abuse and children who go missing. The Operation Encompass website offers valuable information and resources, including the OE template letter and free online training for key adults. You can find resources for educational settings on the Operation Encompass website. Home : Operation Encompass

PREVENT

The Department for Education's Regional Prevent Coordinators have released details of forthcoming 'PREVENT in education' training for DSLs and a separate course for governors and trustees. I encourage all DSLs and governors/trustees to sign up for one of their virtual courses. Please visit Regional Prevent education coordinators page on GOV.UK for more information: Regional Prevent education co-ordinators - GOV.UK.

Prevent Training

The Governors of Usworth Colliery Primary School along with the Headteacher have reviewed the Prevent advice outlined by Government. All staff have undertaken Prevent training.

The Prevent strategy is a government strategy designed to stop people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism. It:

  • Responds to the ideological challenge we face from terrorism and aspects of extremism, and the threat we face from those who promote these views
  • Provides practical help to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism and ensure they are given appropriate advice and support
  • Works with a wide range of sectors (including education, criminal justice, faith, charities, online and health)
